Obituary for Brent William King

Brent William King, 48, of Midkiff, Texas went to be with the Lord on January 31, 2016 in Fluvanna, Texas because of a dirt bike accident. Brent was born August 2, 1967 in San Angelo, Texas. After graduating from Rankin High School in 1985, he attended Texas A&M University and also Angelo State University. Brent began his career of farming after college. He immensely loved farming and being out on his land. He was extremely mechanical in nature and always took that to the extreme. Most people called him a “Jack of All Trades” because he could fix anything and usually improve on whatever he had in front of him. He always loved a challenge. Brent’s perseverance allowed him to embrace challenges, which usually led to him proving “it could be done.” He loved anything fast, motorcycles and cars especially. Brent was a “kid” at heart but also extremely adventurous and spontaneous when it came to having fun. His passion in life was visiting and hanging out with friends and family and having a good time with everyone around him. Brent’s zest for life, love of people and love of family will live on through us and he will dearly be missed by all who loved him. He was preceded in death by his grandfather’s Loyd King, and Rupert Beach, and his father Rocky King. Brent is survived by his children, Kater King, of Midkiff and Kanada King, of Lubbock; his forever and faithful companion, Ruger his dog, his Mother and Step-father, Sharon and Larry Schwertner, of Ballinger, TX; his Father, Billy Zak, of Del Rio, TX; his Grandmother’s, Adeline Beach, of San Angelo and Raye King, of Coleman, TX; his brother and sisters, Kody King, of Willow Park, TX, Rebecca Steele and her husband Robert, of San Angelo and Kelly Marshall and her husband Wilson, of Colorado City, TX; and Shellane King, of Lubbock; his nieces and nephews, Camden Steele and his wife Bailey, Morgan Steele, Carter Steele, Payton King, Parker King, Walton Marshall and Helen Marshall; and one great niece, Hadley Steele Brotherton. He is also survived by numerous friends and family who all held a special place in his heart. The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M., Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at Harper Funeral Home in San Angelo. A celebration of his life will be 10:00 A.M., Thursday, February 4, 2016 at the First United Methodist Church in San Angelo (37 East Beauregard Avenue) with Rev. Dale Weise officiating. Pallbearers for the service will be Quad Midkiff, Chad Hicks, Ben Acosta, Carl Hoelscher, Bob Gaines, Steve Beach, Austin Hoelscher and Sandra Thompson. Honorary Pallbearers for the service will be Cody Kinard, Wilson Marshall, Robert Steele, Kody King, Ray Barrett and John B Steward. At Brent’s request, the “King Spring Fling” will be held in his honor, at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, The Shriner’s or a charity of your choice.
“Scatter my ashes at the edge of my farm, and in the afternoon, when the sun starts to set towards the west, just imagine I’m right there watching over my fields. That is my wish.”
